Home Sustainability Assessments

COMING SOON

As part of WBP's ongoing commitment to the environment and our customers we have joined the Federal Government's Green Loans Program to offer FREE Home Sustainability Assessments.

WBP Property Group will soon provide sustainability audits for residential property in line with the Federal Government's Green Loans Program.

Our valuers have been trained to assess site orientation and the effects of the suns radiant heat on a dwelling together with assessing the mass of the building and how that mass can be used in the heating and cooling of the dwelling.

The valuer will be able to provide information to a homeowner or tenant as to how energy and water can be used more wisely and to optimise the comfort and environmental aspects of a their property.

Improving your Home Sustainability Rating

Recommendations for improving the sustainability rating of a home can be quite simple resulting in only minor expenditure to upgrade the property, some of which may include:

  • the installation of draught stoppers on the internal and external doors
  • draft sealing systems on window frames throughout the dwelling
  • installation of pelmet boxes to seal curtains
  • installation of roof /wall/ floor  insulation
  • installation of reflective solar film on North and west facing windows
  • the construction of window shade systems to reduce the impact of the summer sun  from the north and the west, whilst still allowing winter sun to penetrate the dwelling.

Larger scale recommendations may include the installation of a solar electrical system, solar boosted hot water service, grey water treatment plant and the installation of plastic or concrete water tanks to supplement household water usage, such as is required by toilets and for laundry uses.

Energy usage is a major component of the audit. WBP's qualified assessor will locate and determine the electrical usage of all major equipment in the dwelling including computers, television sets, stereo units, entertainment systems, water pumps, and heating and cooling systems. Many of these units will have a standby feature, which by themselves can use up to 11% of households electricity consumption without delivering any noticeable benefit. Large amounts of energy is wasted each year when we leave mobile phone charges turned on at the power point when they are not charging the device. These mobile charges are still consuming between three and five watts when not in use.

An audit of your dwelling has the potential to deliver several major advantages including reduced utility costs to run the property, increasing the comfort level of the dwelling and, importantly,  reducing the properties carbon foot print.
